A GIFT OF LOVE

— MEDICAL SHIPMENT ARRIVES IN TURKEY ON VALENTINE’S DAY

Just days after the historic earthquake of Feb. 6 destroyed ten cities throughout the southeastern part of the country, with a death toll expected to reach 50,000, a Conscience International Aid Specialist accompanied our emergency medical cargo from Atlanta, arriving in Adana, Turkey on Valentine's Day, joining another of team that arrived days earlier.

Connections we have established with city mayors in several of the devastated towns ensures that the neediest field hospitals and emergency clinics will receive the supplies they desperately need. Our assessment phase operations will include the epicenter city of Marash as well as Adana itself and Antakya in Hatay Province. Antakya is ancient Antioch of the Bible.

Our teams have extensive experience working in Turkey, including in the 1999 Adapazari-Golcuk-Ismit earthquake. Over the past thirty years Conscience International teams have also responded to earthquakes in Haiti, Peru, Pakistan, Iran, India, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, and Thailand, as well as natural disasters and wars in many other countries.

Constructing temporary tent shelters

We are now building temporary shelters that will sleep eight people each. Some villages have no standing structures, with families sleeping on the streets in the snow with freezing temperatures continuing.

Please consider a donation in any amount so we can continue to deliver medicines, build shelters, distribute food, water, blankets, and other needs to people now left homeless.
