The Gihon School building project in the village of Shambhuganj, Bangladesh that Conscience International initiated along with the local community in 2012 is bursting at the seams.
Already 186 students from grades one to grade five are currently enrolled in just three school rooms, but so many more children are eagerly waiting for their own chance to study.
Just five years ago, there was no school in the village or in the vicinity and these children had no opportunity for education. Now parents are begging to add grade six and to build an expansion on the overly-crowded facility. The aptitude and the eager desire to learn on the part of these children is inspiring. In just a short time, they have learned physical training and discipline as well as cultural performance capability that enables them to compete with other schools on the regional and perhaps national level. It provides a glimpse into what can be achieved by giving children who previously had no opportunities the chance to excel.
Just as important to their success is our school hot meal nutrition program launched by Conscience International in 2016 with generous support from our donors. Feeding hungry stomachs also feeds minds hungry to learn. Your support of this program will help us continue to serve nutritious hot food to hungry students, add more classrooms to the school, advance another grade level, and enroll many more students who are excited to learn.
